About

The trainer players call in the off-season

Thirteen years on the same floor as every level of basketball — middle school gyms, varsity programs, NBA off-season work. The through-line never changes: find what is actually holding a player back, then build the habit that fixes it.

The work

Reputation is built one player at a time

The story

Casey Trujeque was a Division 1 point guard at 5'7". That matters more than it sounds. Nothing about his game came from measurables — it came from reading the floor faster than whoever was guarding him, and from knowing exactly which parts of his game had to be undeniable to stay on it.

That is the same problem every athlete he trains is solving. Nobody arrives complete. The job is identifying the two or three things that, done relentlessly, move a player from where they are to where they intend to be.

From varsity benches to NBA off-seasons

Taking over as a head varsity coach was a second education: not how to develop one player, but how a player’s development survives contact with a real season, a real rotation and real pressure. Skills that only work in an empty gym are not skills.

The NBA work followed the way it usually does — not through an agency, but because players told other players. Pros came for off-season development, brought teammates the next year, and kept coming back. Eleven NBA players have trained with him. That number is a referral chain, not a marketing figure.

Why pros keep coming back

At that level nobody needs another workout. They need someone who will tell them the truth about their game, design work that targets it specifically, and hold the standard when they are tired. Sessions get built around the athlete’s actual situation — the matchups they are losing, the shot they are avoiding, the read they keep missing.

It is also why NBA training is quoted per engagement rather than by the hour. Defensive development needs live bodies on the floor. Positioning work needs live reads. Scoping that honestly is part of the job.

The same standard at every level

A middle schooler and a pro get the same framework. What changes is where the ceiling sits — not how seriously the work is taken. Seventy-four athletes across every level have come through, and more than $75 million in professional contracts and college scholarships has followed them out.
